What a great change in weather for the 9 of us to stand the flag line. Because of 2 entrances, Don staged flags at both & we stood at the main one. The family arrived just before one thanking each of us personally as they walked up the sidewalk between us. The FD told us the service would last around an hour & a half. At the 2&1/2 mark, we were advised it would probably be another 45 minutes or so. He also told us that the coach would be going on ahead of the procession to change to a caisson. Several of us had other commitments so I talked with the FD about this & he was very good with our departing. He then thanked us for being there & for what we do.
A big thank U to all of U for what U do.September 25, 2019 at 7:06 pm in reply to: Short Notice: James H. Guyton, 74, US Army veteran, Austin, TX, 25 SEP 2019 #5401keithlongacreModeratorAnother HOT one today but still 5 amazing patriots stood tall & proud for Mr. Guyton. We even had one hardy sole ride up on his MC. Thanks everyone for doing what you do.
September 24, 2019 at 12:02 pm in reply to: Short Notice: LtCol Stephen P. Folan, 65, USMC (Ret), Austin, TX, 23 SEP 2019 #5398keithlongacreModeratorIn spite of the short notice, 11 members braved the heat & stood tall & silent for Lt. Col. Folan. His wife & sons stopped at our briefing to tell us how much it meant to them that we were there. She told of how the PGR stood in the rain at her father's funeral, also a career Marine.
We did have an overheating issue in the flag line & we sent him inside to recover. After lots of water & cooling off, he was able to get back to his truck & return home.
This incredible group of patriots never stops amazing me & in so doing, never stops helping families get through their time of loss.
September 22, 2019 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Warren Lee Grant, 77, US Army/Vietnam veteran, Austin, TX, 20 SEP 2019 #5394keithlongacreModerator8 patriots dealt with the heat to stand for Mr. Grant. The family went through the line & thanked us for honoring him. At the conclusion, 5 of us went to the Folkes mission & others went to the Pickrel mission.
Thanks again Don for your faithful flag wrangling service.August 13, 2019 at 8:37 pm in reply to: Harvey Henry Klee, 86, US Navy/Korea veteran, Llano, TX, 17 AUG 2019 #5370keithlongacreModeratorI plan on driving my truck to LLano. August 3, 2019 at 9:42 pm in reply to: Robert C. Worlds, Sr,, 74, US Army veteran, Austin, TX, 03 AUG 2019 #5364keithlongacreModeratorClouds partially blocked the sun giving us some relief as the 6 of us stood to honor Mr. World. His brother chatted awhile thanking us for being there. This was one of the largest turn outs we've seen for a veteran. The service lasted about an hour & a half. The FD & I discussed the position of everyone for the procession but no mention was made by him that the coach would be leaving early. When it suddenly left we were caught off guard. LEO's told us he was going ahead to switch the casket from the coach to a horse drawn caisson for the short ride to the internment site. We then re positioned at the cemetery where it was decided to quietly depart.
Don did his usually great job of pre staging 7 flags which really helped the visual. It was a long day & I really thank you patriots for showing up for Mr. World & his family.July 10, 2019 at 11:57 pm in reply to: Funeral portion, SSgt Casey Jay Roland, 28, Active Duty Marine, Round Rock, TX, 10 JUL 2019 #5352keithlongacreModeratorWhat an honor it was for all of us to stand for this young Marine. Even with the high heat, 19 patriots, including a couple that just needed to hold a flag, stood tall & proud. Upon breaking the flag line, several hurried off to GT to stand yet another flag line. Also in our line were 2 Leather Neck M/C members. After an hour & 1/2 down time, we joined the procession to CTSVC.
Thanks Don for pre staking some flags. It really helps & increases the visual effect.Semper Fi Marine. You are now in His presents forever.

June 14, 2019 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Quinntavius D. Wallace, 29, US Navy veteran, Austin, TX, 13 JUN 2019 #5339keithlongacreModeratorWhat a nice surprise at staging. The former Commander of the Arlington National Cemetery stopped to thank us & what the PGR does. He related how much it means, not only to the family but to the military as well.
Several folks walked the line thanking all 8 of us personally. You could tell it meant of lot to the family that we took time out of our lives to honor their veteran.
Niki & soup prestaged several flags leading to the entrance of the church & 2 more at the street entrance. Riders commented that it really helps locating the correct drive.
Hearing from the Commander, family & friends, really points out just how much your presents at these services really mean to all. U "DO" make a difference.June 9, 2019 at 8:29 pm in reply to: Louis D. April 24, 2019 at 7:35 pm in reply to: Brandon O'Neal Yarbrough, 32, USAF veteran, Bastrop, TX, 24 APR 2019 #5311keithlongacreModeratorBig, big thanks to the 8 super patriots who braved the rainy weather & stood tall for Mr. Yarbrough, his family & friends. The parking lot filed to overflowing, for he was very well thought of in the community & surrounding area. We were given a heads up to the large turn out & moved our staging area to the farthest area of the parking lot.
Flag wrangler, Nicki & hubby Soup, staked 2 flags at the drive way entrance even though it was pouring. Later, she positioned her truck under the front canopy so we could retrieve flags. We then established the flag line keeping all under cover. At the start of service, she left the line & returned w her truck so we could once again deal with the flags w/o getting drenched.
Thanks to everyone for doing what you do. It is a big deal to the family & friends.April 6, 2019 at 3:13 am in reply to: Updated: Paul Brooks, 53, US Army veteran, Austin, TX, 05 APR 2019 #5299keithlongacreModeratorUnder a gray overcast sky, 11 patriots stood in the flag line to honor Paul Brooks. Close friend & co worker, Andy Lough joined us as well. Many, many friends stopped to thank us for showing such respect. It was conveyed to the family that it was our honor to serve the family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you for giving the PGR the privilege of standing for Mr. Brooks. Keith Longacre Ride Captain
