Thanks to all for honoring Mr. Buddy Slack. One gentleman that spoke to me at the conclusion of the service said all those flags flying in the background was a great tribute to Buddy. Patriot Guard Riders, what you do always brings an enormous amount of comfort to the family and friends of the heroes you honor.

TC sends a message that includes a link to a photo album of the mission honoring Buddy Slack. If the link doesn't post as a clickable link copy it and paste it in your browser.

    Thanks again to all,

    Terry

It will be an honor to unfurl my bike mounted USA flag for Jeffrey Nubbe. To further honor Mr. Nubbe's service in the US Navy I'll also be flying a 12 X 18 trunk mounted US Navy flag.

Alton's comments prompted me to send my neighbor and good friend Bob Ingram (aka Motor 12) and Deke Pierce (aka Motor 14) with TCSO a thank you note. They both worked the mission yesterday. I passed along the many comments I personally heard about the awesome job they and APD did.

    Their replies:

Thanks for the kind comments. We try to look good for the family as I know it means alot to them. I'm passing this on to Sgt.Mancias. He appreciates kudos for our motor guys. Thanks again.

    Bob

Bob and I saw you up front. Glad it went well, it is an honor for us. Thank you very much.

    Deke

Also, thanks to everyone that helped Bob Binkley when his bike died. Recovery went well and we rolled his bike out of the trailer at his home in Round Rock around 1600. He informs today it was a bad battery (one year old) and he is back on the road again. If anyone thinks the PGR doesn't have a guardian angel ask me what unlikely circumstances were in place when the call went out for the trailer. I'll make a believer out of you!!

Alton, you old warhorse you're so right…..APD and TCSO do an outstanding job! I have a neighbor who is also a good friend that is Motor 12 Travis County. He was part of the LEO team yesterday. I'm going to give him a shout out in a few minutes and pass along all of this deserved praise from all.

Without question SPC Joshua Ferris not only did his duty he went beyond the call of duty. He is a true American Hero. My sincere thanks to every one who was there in body or in thoughts from afar. The Patriot Guard did it's duty and to the person it was an outstanding effort, I could not be more proud.

Great job today PGR. An extra attaboy to Gerry for stepping up and doing triple (wrangling, ice water & standing tall) duty. Hey, back in this old Pirate's day returning military from Vietnam could purchase for ONE dollar a special booklet that contained admission and ten tickets that could be used on ANY rides. You old dogs remember that? I bought mine and I got three guys in my squadron that were getting discharged upon arrival to CONUS to buy a booklet and sell it to me for the buck. My brother and sister were coming to visit for a week and we were going to DISNEYLAND!!! I was at NAS Miramar/San Diego. The booklet clearly said "Welcome Home to returning Vietnam ServiceMEN (sorry girls). I was a little worried they wouldn't let my "civilians" in with the booklet but they DID!!! Me, Barbara, brother and sister got in Disneyland and rode all the big ticket rides for FOUR bucks!!!! It was fun! We had a Goofy time!

Patriot Guard Rider Larry Sprouse is a good friend of Mr. Ellison's son Barry. Larry received a letter from Barry that contained a request that it be shared with the Patriot Guard Riders.
************************************************ Larry. Please pass this on to your group. We can't thank you enough for your service to my dad and all veterans. It was an honor to have you and an honor for my dad to see the beautiful service that you provided. I can't pay that back except to keep honoring vets in any way that I can. I too, go out of my way to honor these great Americans. They are all heros to me. Thanks to all the good men and women of the patriot guard for all that you do. I received so
many wonderful comments from the participants and visitors to my dad's funeral. They said it was beautiful and wonderfully carried out. We got some great stills and video of the ceremony. I'm proud to know you all. God bless America!!! Barry Ellison and family.

Mission completed honoring WW II US Army Veteran Vernon Ellison. The turnout to honor this American Veteran was outstanding. The daughter and son of Mr. Ellison asked me to convey their sincere appreciation to each Patriot Guard Rider that stood in silent respect for their Father. Many attendees also expressed their appreciation for the Patriot Guard Riders. You are to be commended for your commitment to the PGR and for the dedication to our mission. Well done!

Hopefully most can arrive at 0930. I Spoke to the Funeral Director late this afternoon for a final update. The coach will be coming directly to the cemetery from Cook Walden in Austin unescorted. ETA at the cemetery is now 0945. ETA family members is 1000. The Director will call me when the coach is enroute. We will form a flag line for the coach arrival even if the family is not there.
