Eight riders participated in the flag line for this event. Nicki had the flags posted well prior to anyone arriving for the service. Sgt. Ligon was a dedicated motorcycle rider who had ridden with the PGR. At the request of the family, his ridding buddy Robin rode his motorcycle to the service and it was moved inside the chapel until the start of the service. When the service started it was moved outside under the portal and 2 of our bikes were parked behind it to facilitate what the funeral director called the “ride-off.” The family had requested that some PGR riders accompany Robin as he returned the bike to its home at Robert’s house in Round Rock. Because it was approaching rush hour and there was no LEO, we limited the riders participating in the ride home to 2. There was a brief ceremony outside the funeral home after the main part of the funeral ended. Doves were released (freed),a Bagpiper played TAPS, AMAZING GRACE and a couple of other songs. All attention was then focused on the motorcycles as they were reve’d up and Sgt. Ligon’s motorcycle departed on its last ride escorted by Soup & Jimmy. The family and Robin expressed sincere appreciation for our attendance and participation. Thanks to everyone who came and stood for this veteran and special thanks to Jimmy for staying until the service was over and making the “ride off” requested by the family a meaningful moment for them. Soup Campbell, Ride CaptainMission Complete. 5 PGR members stood the flag line on this foggy, damp day to honor this hero, a dedicated Army Paratrooper and subsequent Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper. Nicki arrived early and placed flags at key locations throughout the grounds. Soup met with the funeral director, who was exceptionally helpful and introduced him to Mrs Bayless who expressed her profound appreciation for our participation. Thank you to our own Burt Carter, a high school classmate and good friend of Mr. Bayless, for sharing some memories of growing up with Scott. It was a short walk from the entrance where the flag line was posted for the funeral to the site of the burial service at the entrance to the cemetery. Mr. Bayless’ son walked the flag line after the burial ceremony to thank each one for being there. The Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church was located atop a hill from where you could see for miles if not for the fog. It was a great privilege to honor Sgt. Bayless at this beautiful and historic site in Hostyn,Texas. RIP Sgt Bayless.
Soup Campbell, Ride CaptainCOMPLETED MISSION: Ten patriots stood the flag line at the cemetery in Mason to honor Navy Veteran Jerry Reichenau. It was a very windy but sunny day. Nicki staked 8 flags prior to the arrival of the procession. The funeral procession arrived accompanied by three riders from San Antonio PGR who joined us in the flag line. The widow expressed deep appreciation for our presence at the ceremony. Thank you to all who braved the really strong winds to attend this mission. A special thanks to Steve for catching a discrepancy between the start time listed in the OBIT and the start time listed in the tasking message. It literally saved the day. RIP Seaman Reichenau.
Soup Campbell, Ride CaptainIt was a beautiful day in the country as 5 PGR members were joined by 2 guests from out of state to make a total of 7 in the flag line. As usual, Nicki was on top of it, arriving early and staking flags at the entrance to the cemetery and at the point where the casket was unloaded. We provided 3 pallbearers to assist with the unloading and placement of the casket. The Bluffton Cemetery board president was there to assist with our planning for the ceremony. Both before and after the service, family members including the widow assisted by her daughter, made the effort to walk the flag line and personally thank each member for our participation. Thanks to Warren, Dave and Steve for making the effort to get to this service. Debrief was minimal and included presenting our out of state guest participants with a PGR MISSION ACCOMPLISHED pin.
Soup Campbell, Ride Captain.Mission Complete. 13 Patriots showed up to accompany the family of this distinguished Marine to his family’s ranch. There were 7 bikes, 4 trikes and a cage. Thank you to the San Antonio riders who participated in this mission. We were able to visit with the family at the designated residence from which the procession started. They were all greatly appreciative that we were there. The family made arrangements for an LEO escort from the house, through the turn onto 290 in Johnson City. This helped to keep the procession together and was greatly appreciated. PGR riders stopped at the entrance to the ranch road and the family proceeded to the ranch. The family member driving the lead car did a great job of keeping the speed steady and slow enough so that there was not too much stress on the big flags. We had 2 first time riders, Ken and Brian, who were each presented a “Mission Accomplished” pin. Thank you to all who made the effort to participate in this mission honoring Sergeant Major Constance. RIP Marine.
Soup Campbell R.C.9 patriots stood the flag line for Sergeant Green this morning. Max provided flags, water and Gatorade. Many of Sergeant Green’s family members took time to thank us for our attendance. Turns out Sergeant Green was a rider. Three flag line participants joined 8 riders from San Antonio to escort Sergeant Green from Lockhart to Fort Sam Houston. Caldwell County Constable deputy’s provided four escort Officers/vehicles for the trip to Fort Sam. Riders were met with flags and water upon arrival at the cemetery. It was a good effort to honor this patriot. Well done and thanks to all who participated.
Seven PGR members stood for Sp4 Hoffman today. We were joined by Mike of the Gypsys motor cycle club who was a close friend of Mr. Hoffman. Nicki arrived early and staked out flags in front of the funeral home. After the service began, we stood down the flag line. Nicki and I headed to the cemetery and Warren assumed Ride Captain duty for the escort to the cemetery. The service at the cemetery was short. Nicki and I folded the flag and I presented it to Mrs. Hoffman. The Chaplain offered a short blessing to end the service. Nicki and I were approached by Mrs. Hoffman as we were picking up the staked flags. She repeatedly expressed her profound gratitude for our presence at the service. Thanks to all who made the effort to stand for Mr. Hoffman today. RIP SP4 Hoffman.
Completed Mission: 14 patriots showed up to honor PFC Alton Eaglin today. As usual, Don showed up way early and had flags strategically placed so the arriving riders had no trouble finding the burial plot. Thanks again Don! PFC Eaglin’s brother, sister and sister-in-law made the trip from Louisiana for the service. There were no military honors, however, we did present the burial flag to the PFC’s brother who was very grateful. The family seemed surprised and very pleased by our presence at the service. The family, Pastor, Funeral Director and staff all made it a point to thank us for being there. RIP PFC Eaglin.
Six patriots stood the flag line for SP4 Mayfield. Nicki posted flags at the main entrance and a couple to mark the route to the chapel. Keith, Nicki and myself were there to render honors when the hearse arrived and were invited to help move the casket and flowers to the chapel. This was a very well attended service, a testament to SP4 Mayfield’s service to his community in addition to his military service. Many attendees offered “thanks” for our participation. The flag line stood down a few minutes after the service started.
RIP SP4 McKinley Mayfield, IIIELEVEN patriots participated in this mission. Nicki arrived early and posted flags at all the entrances to the church parking lots. The flag line was formed at 2 of the 3 entrances to the chapel. Many of the friends and family expressed appreciation for our participation. LTC Jindra’s son, Commander Brian Jindal, made a special effort to personally thank each person in the flag line. The flag line stood down after the service started and our members quietly departed.
RIP LTC Mike “Buzzard” JindraGood turn out to honor this hero. Max was there early to post flags and had the bikes all lined up when I arrived. We had strong support from the San Antonio and Centex PGR. Thanks. There were 12 riders in the flag line. Max posted a 4 rider flag line at the rear entrance a little early so as to be in place when family arrived and the rest were posted at the main entrance. After the family arrived those 4 joined the rest at the main entrance until the servece started. The son and daughter of the hero made a special effort to come out and thank us for being there. We had 8 riders in the procession to the FSH Cemetery. The escort was provided by 4 vehicles from the Hays County Constable and was superb. We were stuck in stop and go traffic on 35 for 20-30 minutes, but made it in time. The "always ready" SA PGR was waiting for us at the shelter with flags and water and a large contingent of riders for the flag line. Thanks to all for showing up to honor MSgt Turner. Special shout out to Dave on his trifecta!!
Three riders stood the flag line today. Nicki arrived early and staked flags at the entrance. Special thanks to Keith who showed up and relieved me of RC duties so I could leave early for the Kyle mission. Keith was the lone rider in the procession as Dave departed for the Kyle mission after the flag line. Two in the flag line at the cemetery but Nicki had flags staked around the site. Keith departed for the Florence mission after the cemetery portion. Nicki received multiple thanks you's from people while she was loading up the flags.
Beautiful day for the service for SSG Bruciaga. Nicki was there early and had a couple of flags posted out front for the funeral service and also at the cemetery. We had 6 bikes, a trike and a cage. There were 9 people in the flag line. Early morning temps dipped into the high forties in most places, so everyone was wide awake. Several friends and relatives took time to express their appreciation for our participation in the services.The LEO escort was superb, as usual. Soup Campbell.
Great mission today. 25 bikes. 28 people in the flag line. 4 volunteers left staging early to go make sure the flag line was in place for the arrival of SGT Guzman. Thank you. Nicki and the volunteers who left the staging early did a good job of getting flags to other attendees so that there was a flag line nearly the whole length of the driveway when the Guzman family arrived. Upon arrival, our riders relieved the non PGR members of their flags and our flag line re-grouped around the perimeter of the shelter. There was no socializing due to COVID restrictions, so after Sgt. Guzman raised the flag in front of his new house, we stood down the flag line and riders departed. Special thanks to the Hays County Sheriff's Dept.. for being there to escort us on this mission. Great job. A special thanks to Deputy Bruce Harlan who met with us last Tues. and briefed us on the conduct of the procession. Thanks to Chappy for not letting me forget it and for leading us in prayer to start the mission. Thanks also to Shaquanta Bailey "Q" who granted every request we made in order to get our part done as smoothly as possible. Last but not least a big thanks to all the riders who showed up ready honor this hero today…………with masks and everything! It was a great day.
We had 2 bikes and a trike for this mission. Mrs. LaBorde came to our staging area when she arrived at the funeral home to thank us for being there. Her husband was an avid rider. It was a small procession and all went smoothly. I was surprised as we approached the cemetery and there was no flag line at the entrance as expected. Turns out the procedures have changed and Centex was allowed at the shelter. We joined their flag line until the end of the ceremony.
