Mayes, 100, (Ret), US Army/Navy/WWII veteran, Georgetown, TX, 15 FEB 2020 #5497markwellsKeymasterThanks to all who came out on a chilly Saturday morning to honor this 100 yr old WWII US Army and Navy veteran. We had 16 Patriots stand for CPO Mayes at the historic IOOF cemetery in Georgetown. Two riders came from Killeen including a first time mission attendee, George. Welcome!
Thank you, Don Ferguson, for bringing the flags and water.
The Army and Navy provided honor details and coordinated their efforts seamlessly and looked sharp. The service ran a bit long for a graveside event, but it was a cool day so no issues. I spoke briefly with Mr. Mayes son who said he was impressed by the PGR turnout for his dad, and he and other family members thanked us for honoring him in this way.
RIP CPO Mayes. Thank you for your long and faithful service.

January 24, 2020 at 10:54 pm in reply to: James W. “Jack” Mercer, 79, US Navy veteran, Georgetown, TX, 24 JAN 2020 #5489markwellsKeymasterGreat turnout at today's mission with 16 patriots on hand to honor Mr. Mercer. Max Vasquez came all the way from Kyle, and it was great to see Juan Gonzales at the mission, too. We had a nice looking flag line in front of the building with two stationed at the entrance drive off Williams.
I spoke briefly with Mrs Mercer. She didn't say much, but the tears which came to her eyes as I introduced myself and explained what we were doing spoke volumes.
Thank you to all who attended today. RIP Mr. Jack Mercer, US Navy.
