markwellsKeymaster! CORRECTION !
No Post Decal or Temporary Permits needed!
They changed Ft Hood to an Open Post without telling me!
😀
markwellsKeymasterThat's exactly why I "click" Mark. I get to capture the observers' perspective for the participants. Y'all always make me so proud to be a member of this organization.
markwellsKeymasterMare, gotta say how much I appreciate seeing your videos shot from the "sidelines"… we get to see how it looks when the PGR comes along in a procession. Looks like ya'll had a great turnout yesterday, very happy to see the PGR on Ft Hood for these events.
markwellsKeymasterNOTE: Anyone who saw my post on the Shoutbox about cages coming to these events on post… REMEMBER you have to have a POST DECAL or TEMPORARY PERMIT to get on post! I forgot that because I've always had one.

Guess I can post my little story here since Centex seems to be having tech difficulties…
There were a bunch of us who went into the fest tent to eat after the celebration. A woman came up to the table to thank us "for what we do," and she mentioned a child asking her what all the motorcycles were doing. She told them that we were escorting the soldiers back home. He looked at her and exclaimed, "Oh, they're protecting them!"
Now how cute is that?!
markwellsKeymasterI just got back from the homecoming…
For those of you that have never been to one of these at Ft Hood, it is really something to see.
To say it was time well spent is the understatement of the year.
This is one of those "Gotta Do Things"markwellsKeymasterThank you Steve…
I plan to attendmarkwellsKeymasterALCON,
This is notification of an intent to attend the Fort Hood Welcome Home ceremony for 4th ID on Sunday, 15 March 2009 by CenTex PGR. The time of the plane's arrival has been changed to 1530 hours (as of 1300 hours on 03/14/2009), but as always, is subject to further change. Staging will be at the Copperas Cove WalMart parking lot near the gasoline kiosk on Highway 190. Walmart is located on the eastern edge of Copperas Cove.
Staging has been changed to begin at 1315 hours with KSU enroute to the Fort Hood Clark Road staging site at 1415 hours. Prior to KSU, there will be a mission/safety briefing and PPE inspection. The times are all subject to change.
PGR will meet all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of Fort Hood with one exception; when riding as a part of a PGR mission, we do not have to possess a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Card and must enter Fort Hood enmass (as a single group).
Required PPE follows:
DOT approved helmet
Eye protection – This can be the helmet faceshield if present or some form of eyewear.
Long pants
Boots – Must cover the ankle. Cannot be a high-tops tennis shoe in canvas.
Gloves – Must fully cover the entire hand, to include fingers
High visibility outer wear – This can be as simple as a brightly colored long-sleeved t-shirt during the day when weather permits. During hours of darkness or reduced visibility, it means a reflective vest but undergarment still must be long-sleeved. When wearing a dark long-sleeved jacket a reflective vest is required unless the jacket has reflective material as part of its design. Or, a brightly colored shirt can be worn over the jacket during daylight hours. If you wish to support this request, please get your PPE together. Anyone not in PPE will be turned away at the staging site. If you will not attend or do not wish to attend, please refrain from replying to this email. We need to plan for those who can attend, not those who cannot…

markwellsKeymasterTODAY'S ABIA MISSION IS OFFICIALLY A STAND DOWN.
Due to safety concerns this mission is officially a stand down. Weather conditions are not favorable and roadways are a danger. Severe weather in the area seems probable and there is no cover available at staging area should lightning occur.
This decision was difficult to make, apologies for the late notice.

Folks, would like to share this note received today from Taryn Davis, the founder of the American Widow Project. Once again we hear from the families that the time and effort we give to missions is well spent.
Well all of us widows came to the same consensus about y'all! Driving onto the highway left me with an overwhelming feeling of happiness. The last time we had been on that road, with the PGR leading, was in the opposite direction on our way to the funeral home. For so many of us, I think that all of you helped in transforming memories of the last time we were in your presence, and for that reason, we are forever grateful.
The piece should air in about 2 weeks and I should have the exact date by next week. I will make sure and let you know ASAP. I thank you again Mark, for setting this up on such short notice and being there on one of the best moments I've had since Michael's passing.
Warmest Regards,
Taryn Davis
