I deeply regret not being able to make this mission. I have been out of town. I have known John for years. His wife, Beverly, was my second grade school teacher and she is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. My prayers and condolences to the family.

Another safe and successful Mission completed today for WW II Veteran John Treuhardt. Once again, we stood together today in appreciation to a Vet and in respects for his family. We made a positive difference to friends and family in their time of immense grief. You all are to be commended for your patriotism and volunteerism.

In attendance were 26 riders, one passenger and 5 cages. We welcomed 4 new Members on their first Mission, and also recognized one Active Duty service member. One new Member rode in from New Braunfels and as what has become normal, CenTex members attended in force. Thank you ALL for coming today, especially on such short notice.

There were 2 Deputy State Captains there today: Robert Stancil of Austin and Mary Gregory of CenTex. Thank you for being there today as well. Your presence means a lot to all of the Members. Both of our region's leadership is beyond reproach.

The weather couldn't have been much better. A gentle breeze waved Old Glory magnificently as we stood at the cemetery. There were many appreciative family members and friends that will take the memory of today with them forever. We ARE making a difference, folks. We done good. I salute each and every one of you.

May 2010 be kind to you and your families. May we see our troops come home safely and victorious. And may demand for the Patriot Guard be minimal.

    Respects,

    Andy

Wow, we had 36 wonderful folks who were able to put aside their busy pre-holiday plans to honor Mr. Woodard today. And a couple of first time members today as well, thank you Stu and David. Great teamwork and show of respect by everyone, which is really the key to doing what we do well. Hopefully the Woodard family's Christmas is a little less sad because we were there today.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year.

Losing a loved one is always difficult, but this time of year is normally one of celebration, not mourning. Please take some time to show our gratitude and support to Mr. Woodard's family for his years of service to our country.

Linda was on her first mission today, and picked a cold one for her initiation. But she did not waver and stood tall for Sgt. Akers. The other 12 in attendence (6 bikes and 7 cages total) did so as well, and were very much appreciated.
The dedication was evident aa each one stood by the family, not leaving until a little past official sunset, only then to ride home in the cold night air.
We thank you for your patriotism, care and concern for our country's veterans, and hope everyone made it home safely.

Here is the article put out by Cook Walden:

Albert "Frank" Akers Frank Akers won the battle and went home to live with our Heavenly Father on November 29, 2009. Frank was a man of God, a man of honor, a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a World War II veteran, successful business man and a Deacon of his church, all of which he was very proud. He made his mark in the world and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Frank was a passionate man in all things that were important to him. He loved to fish, hunt, travel , and grew vegetables that were spectacular. His biggest passion was sharing the word of Jesus with everyone that he met. He is survived by his wife Katherine (Kitty), his best friend for almost 64 years. Frank has two daughters, Mary Sides and her husband, James and Donna Akers-Borho and her husband Royce. Remembering their beloved Pop-Pop are his grandchildren, Dondi and Tim Duffy, Kristi and Jesse Pena, Graham and Dixie Williams, David and Kellie Sides, Misti and Bob Aderhold and Jeff Borho. Frank has nine great grandchildren and one on the way, known as baby Williams, and John and Zane Duffy, Kayla Pena, Justin and Chris Sharp, Caleb and Nathan Sides, Katelyn and Kobe Aderhold. He is also survived by two brothers, Jeff Darrell Akers and Altus Marvin Akers, their wives, children and extended family members. For those who know our Lord, death is not "Goodbye", but "See You Later." Our family wishes to thank everyone for all the prayers, visits and calls. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and care staff for their loving care for our "Frank." II Timothy 2:11 "If we died with him, we will also live with him" There will be a visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N.
