Confirmed Welcome Home and Send-Off mission

The PGR has been invited to participate in a combination Welcome Home and solider Send-off event this Friday evening. The event is being organized by Military Moms of Texas and will take place at the Rattlesnake Inn. SPC Daric Wade has arrived home on leave from a deployment in Iraq, and SSG Brenda McDonald is deploying next week to Kuwait. Both soldiers are with the Texas National Guard.

Our participation consists of a short law enforcement escorted motorcycle procession from Florence down to the Rattlesnake Inn and a flag line made up of PGR and others at the restaurant to welcome and thank these two soldiers for their service to our country.

Date: Friday evening, 01 April 2011

Staging Location: Florence Country Store and Café, 12061 Hwy 195, Florence, located just south of Florence, west side of the road. Park on the south side of the property. map link: tinyurl.com/FlorenceCountryStore

Timeline:
5:45 – 6:15 pm staging
6:15 pm briefing, with KSU sometime to follow.

Wx: Partly Cloudy, low 58, high 85 deg.

Notes: Fuel is available at the staging. Once our soldiers join us at the staging we will depart for the 6 mile ride down to the restaurant, with law enforcement escort. For those who plan to go directly to the restaurant and be in the flag line to await the procession, the Rattlesnake Inn is 6.2 miles north of the IH35/Hwy 195 intersection, 6060 Hwy 195, east side of the road (map link: tinyurl.com/RattlesnakeInn

A quick note: It's the monthly military appreciation night at "The Snake." The PGR escort will be a surprise to the Soldiers. The PGR is providing flags for the friends and kin of the soldiers at "The Snake". A member of the Military Moms of Texas will coordinate the flag detail with our flag wrangler Julie Duiker. Riders in the escort will not have flag duty. See you at the EXXON!! Be Safe!

Thanks to everyone that made it to "The Snake"! I forgot to count the bikes but there were at least a dozen or so and one cage! Shout out to Julie Duiker for wrangling the flags and herding the bar patrons into a great looking flag line. Both soldiers were awesome and really appreciated the welcome. Special thanks to Williamson County LEO Constable Chody and Lt. Fikac for volunteering to provide escort. Thanks to the Military Moms of Texas for pulling off another surprise. Most of all thanks to SPC Wade and SSG McDonald for their service to our nation.
