Cpl Ryan Teague, 20, is returning home just in time for Christmas from a deployment to Afghanistan, and his family invited us to help welcome him back to Central Texas.
Date: Wednesday, 21 December 2011.
Location: Covert Chevrolet of Bastrop. We will stage at the dealership.
Directions: This large dealership is located on the S/W corner of Hwy 71 and County Rd 304. They have a LARGE American flag flying. We will meet at the flag pole. Map link: tinyurl.com/CovertBastrop
Timeline:
4:15 – 4:45 pm staging
4:45 pm briefingWx: Hoping for a beautiful first day of winter.
Notes: Cpl Teague has a Smithville address but lives on a county road outside the city. Due to several circumstances which increase our risks, we will form our flag line and great him at the Covert dealership in town.
The family and accompaniment should arrive from the airport about 5:30 pm depending on traffic. We will greet Cpl Teague and his family for about 10-15 minutes, and they will then leave for home.
The return trip from Bastrop will require night riding. Riders should evaluate their skills and comfort level. Cages are welcome. Check the thread for possible changes as the day nears.

December 22, 2011 at 3:44 am #3550markwellsKeymasterThanks to all riders that braved the cold and dark ride to honor Cpl Ryan Teague tonight. We had 17 bikes and 3-4 cages. Several staff members of the Covert Chevrolet dealership also attended. He was really surprised to see everyone upon arrival in Bastrop.
His family members were well pleased with you all being there, extended their thanks and a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks go out to Robert, Mark and Keith A. for arriving early to accompany the family from the airport, Juan for setting up the welcome in Bastrop, and Bob for bringing the flags!
We are gratefull to Mr. Rox Covert for allowing us to gather under the big flag, and the assistance from Richard and Lori at the dealership.Hope every one arrived home safely, knowing you did a very good thing tonight.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.Sam
