    Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral and interment services for Mr. T.A. Beard.  Mr. Beard enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 after graduating from high school and served during WWII aboard the USS Suwannee. He was honorably discharged in May 1946 as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.

    Much later in life he spoke some of his wartime experiences. He told of participating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and seeing the glow of the Hiroshima bomb from the deck of his ship.

    Date/Time: Saturday, 20 March 2021. Funeral service begins at 2 pm.

    Location: Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home – Rockdale, 1041 West Highway 79, Rockdale, TX 76567.  We will stage at the funeral home.

    Timeline:
    12:50 – 1:20 pm – Staging
    1:20 pm – Briefing
    1:30 pm – Flag line

    Wx: A mainly sunny sky. High around 70F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph.

    Notes: Maintain social distancing protocols.  After the start of the funeral service we will strike the flag line and stand by to join the LEO escorted procession to the Pleasant Retreat Cemetery south of Thorndale where we will form a second flag line for the interment service.

    It was very nice day for the 7 Patriot Guard members to stand the flag line for T.A. Beard. 6 of the riders were able to make the easy trip to the grave site service South of Thorndale for a short service with the American Legion rendering the Honors. After the service the members mounted up and departed. God Bless the Family, those that attended and those that could not.
