Confirmed San Antonio Mission
Sgt. Spitzer – U.S.M.C., Afghanistan Veteran KIA
Airport Recovery/Escort
The Patriot Guard has been invited by the family to participate in the recovery escort for Sergeant Thomas Spitzer on Friday (July 4). Sgt. Spitzer was killed in action while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California. This escort will start at the New Braunfels Municipal Airport, where Sgt. Spitzer is scheduled to arrive around 2:30pm. After which, the Patriot Guard will move in LEO escorted procession from the airport, into New Braunfels, through town to Zoeller Funeral Home, where if time permitting, a quick honor line will be formed. Escort route total is about 8 miles, but as with past escorts, procession may slow once approaching downtown as the community will be out to remember Sgt. Spitzer and support the Spitzer family. If available, please try to attend to honor one of our Fallen Heroes and help support the family during their time of loss. Thank you.
