    Confirmed San Antonio Mission
    Fred Powell, Air Force Veteran

The Patriot Guard has been invited by the family to stand and honor Fred Powell (Air Force Veteran), on Friday (Sept 7), for interment services at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30am (shelter tbd). If available, please try to attend to honor one of our local Veterans, and help support the family during their time of loss. Thank you.

This request for the PGR comes from the grandson, who sent the following military bio to share… My grandfather was a Vietnam era veteran. He served in the USAF for 26 years 7 months, with 7 years 7 months of that service being overseas (France, Spain, Okinawa, Vietnam). He retired in 1980 as a Chief Master Sergeant and later that same year began his Civil Service career from which he retired in 1996. He received a number of medals, including the Bronze Star, and I am almost 100% positive that grandpa refused the Purple Heart because he was “barely” injured when the “NCO Club” was bombed and he was cut up from shrapnel.
