Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in a Pony Express mission. This a multi-region mission for the escort of a “patriotic transfer cart” created by volunteers at Alaska Airlines for the San Antonio airport. It will be used to transfer fallen veterans from the aircraft to the funeral home vehicle.

A group of riders escorting the cart will travel from SEA-TAC, WA, May 10, 2023, and arrive in Ontario, CA, May 13.  They will join the 2023 Run for the Wall (RFTW) Southern Route which arrives in Grand Prairie, TX on May 20 at approximately 1700 hours.  The riders and the transfer cart will respectfully exit the RFTW Southern Route on Sunday, May 21.  Texas PGR riders will accompany the movement of this group through the heartland of Texas to its destination at SAT.  There will be about 10-12 riders from the SEA-TAC area that will be with us, with escort for the entire route by the Thin Blue Line LEO motorcycle club.

Seven Austin riders participated in this escort of the special baggage handling cart from Burnet to Luckenbach, six bikes with Warren and Marilyn two-up. We joined about 25 other bikes arriving from the north and rode in light rain the entire way.

Calling this item a “cart” is an understatement. It looks professionally designed and built, with all military branch emblems and LEO represented. How fitting to have a veteran’s remains placed in this after coming off a commercial airliner.

Thank you to all who participated today. BTW, your bike needs a wash!
