    Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral and burial services for PO2 Matthew Doyle Hardin, an active duty sailor who passed away 27 November 2017. We participated in his return to Austin at ABIA on 08 Dec 2017.

    Date/Time: Saturday, 16 December 2017. Funeral service to begin at 2:30 pm

    Location: Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3838 Steck Avenue, Austin, TX 78759. We will stage at the church.

    1:20 pm – 1:50 pm Staging
    1:50 pm – Briefing
    2:00 pm – Flag Line

    Wx: Hi 56 deg, cloudy

    Notes: Arrive fed, fueled, and hydrated. Bring a bottle of water for yourself and one for a friend. Be aware that a visitation will take place prior to the funeral service. Please be considerate of friends and family arriving during our staging period. Following the funeral service we will join an LEO escorted procession to the nearby Austin Memorial Park Cemetery where we will form a second flag line for the interment service.

    The funeral and internment portion was completed today. The father of PO2 Hardin spoke with us today. He was very grateful that we would attend to honor his son. Mathew would have turned 29 on 19 December.

    There were 2 cages in addition to Don. We started with 5 bikes, but only 3 made the trip to the cemetery. One first time rider. Thanks to all of you who stood in the cold rain for this young sailor.
