An overcast and muggy morning for the six Patriots who formed a flag line at the Granger Memorial Day service. The local American Legion post opened the program by raising the flag to half-mast at the memorial, which was installed in 1949 and is engraved with the names of Granger’s KIA heroes since WWI. The program lasted about 25 minutes and was closed by the most beautiful performance of live taps I’ve ever heard, performed by a bugler who drove all the way from San Antonio for the event.

A couple of us joined those in attendance for coffee and donuts afterward. Thank you to Gary for bringing the flags, and thank you to American Legion Post 282 and the City of Granger for again inviting us to this event. Small town patriotism gives one hope.
