Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral and interment services for John Reyes Canava. Mr Canava served in the US Marine Corps from 1970 – 1973 including a tour in Vietnam. He left the Corps as a Corporal.
9:50 – 10:20 am – Staging
10:20 am – Briefing
10:30 am – Flag line
Wx: High 57 deg F, cloudy with occasional showers in the AM. Rain chance 60%.
Notes: Please note there is a visitation prior to the funeral service. Friends and family will be arriving during our staging period. This is a flag line only at the funeral home and again at CTSVC in Killeen for the 1 pm interment service. Mr. Reyes was a motorcyclist and rode Harleys and Indians before he became ill. His niece would love a few bikes to accompany them from Bartlett to Killeen. At this time there is NOT a LEO escorted procession.
In the midst of a cold mist, 8 patriots stood tall & silent as the family walked by stopping to thank each of us personally for honoring their Marine in such a special way. As always, it is our honor to be there & we truly appreciate being invited.
A great big thanks to Nicki & Soup who came all the way from Spicewood to supply flags for us.
With the FD advising that it would be hard keeping everyone together in the procession w/o LEOs & considering the weather, escort was cancelled.
