What a turn out. Over 20 PGR stood the flag line today to honor Mr. Selby. Members came from the Austin area & as far away as Driftwood, Kingsland, Bastrop & a large group from Elgin. John had a life long love for motorcycles, inherited from his father & uncles who were founding members of the Humpin People Motorcycle club. John served as president of the club for many years. His Connection to community was make evident by the very large turn out of his club’s members who showed up to show their respect.

The lead LEO informed us that because of a city ordinance, he was restricted to allowing only 30 in the procession. After a discussion with the FD, it was decided that the PGR would go on ahead to the cemetery & await the procession. While there, a family member talked to us about Mr. Selby’s daughter, who is buried beside him. She died in a house fire awhile back & John could hear her crying out, Daddy help me. It broke my heart to hear this.

10 PGR stood a flag line at the interment site. We stood longer than usual because the LEO missed the turn off to the cemetery. But after all is said & done, family & friends were so very appreciative of our being there. This was truly one of those missions you were glad to have been a part of. Thank U all for such kindness.

AND a big thank U to Michele our Flag Wrangler. She is very much a bright spot in all of our days.
