Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the burial service for Mr. James Powers Exum. Mr. Exum served two years in the US Navy from 1944 to 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman E3.

Location: Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. We will stage at the funeral home.

We had 8 patriots in the flag line on a beautiful late summer day to honor Mr. Exum's service. Just a handful of family members on-hand as the funeral took place yesterday in Waco. We had a nice visit prior to the service with Mrs. Exum and the adult grandchildren. Such nice folks, and so appreciative we were there. We parked our bikes near the grave site as they requested, and his granddaughter told us how Mr. Exum's father enlisted at 16 yrs old during WWI and rode a Harley as a message carrier.

The military was not there to render honors, but we were there with flags flying. It is not often we feel as much a part of a veteran's final services and connection with his family as we did today.

As Don so aptly put it afterward, "We always make a difference, but today we WERE the difference."

Thank you to those who were there for this memorable mission. RIP James P. Exum, and may God's comforting hand be with his family.
