    Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the celebration of life service for Hadley Scott Thompson.  Hadley served in the US Air Force from 1977-1985, leaving as a Sgt/E4.  He was a Patriot Guard Rider, riding his HD in processions for our fallen heroes in the early days of the PGR.

    Date/Time: Saturday, 23 November 2024.  Service begins at 1 pm.

    Location: VFW post 6115, 118 Sayers Rd, Elgin, TX 78621.  We will stage at the hall.  Map link.

    Timeline:
    Noon – 12:40 pm – Staging
    12:40 pm – Briefing
    12:45 pm – Flag line to await the arrival of the procession about 1 pm.

    Wx: High 78 deg, sunny

    Notes:  This is a flag line only prior to the celebration of life service.  A procession of friends and family trailering Hadley’s bike will arrive about 1 pm.  An honor guard will perform military honors.  After the brief service we will strike the flag line and are invited to join everyone for BBQ and refreshments.

    Thank you to the 10 Patriots who stood the flag line at the VFW today for Hadley Thompson. We were in place about 12:45, and a bit after 1 pm a procession of at least 40 bikes and numerous cars and trucks arrived. Hadley’s bike was trailered among them. Once everyone was through the gate and onto the side patio, the USAF honor guard folded and presented the flag and sounded taps, and a bag piper played Amazing Grace. It was a moving and well executed ceremony, with the USAF looking sharp as always.

    Thank you again to Lance for bringing the flags. It was a beautiful day to be outside honoring this PGR and USAF veteran. RIP, Hadley.
