Confirmed mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the opening ceremony for this year's Field of Honor event in Georgetown. The Rotary Club of Georgetown produces this week long schedule of activities to commemorate Veteran's Day. A main feature is a field next to the Georgetown Rec Center set up with approximately 2000 US Flags.

See here for the event details. https://www.georgetowntxfieldofhonor.org/

This mission is a short procession and flag line for a portion of the opening ceremony.

Date/Time: Sunday, 04 November 2018. Event begins at 2 pm.

Staging Location: Williamson County Sheriff's Posse rodeo arena, 415 E Morrow St, Georgetown, TX 78627. We will stage in the parking lot immediately NE of the arena.

    Timeline:
    1:00 – 1:40 pm – Staging
    1:40 pm – Briefing
1:50 pm – KSU for the short ride to the event field.

Wx: Hi 74 deg, partly cloudy

Notes: Fly your big flags. There are 27 historic US flags dating from the country's founding to today. WE NEED AT LEAST 27 RIDERS at this mission so that each of these 27 US flags can be carried by a rider to its position in front of the stage at the beginning of the event. We will stand at this flag line about 20 minutes until after the national anthem is sung.

Ride Captain: Mark Wells, atxpgr@gmail.com, 512-470-0380
    Asst RC: Keith Longacre
    Flag Wrangler: N/A

There will be refreshments and other activities to enjoy as well. This will be an awesome event and a great way to kick off Veteran's Day commemoration.

The Austin Patriot Guard Riders came through in a big way today! We had 28 riders, one to carry each of the historic US flags to its position in the Field of Honor at the opening ceremony. All went according to plan and schedule. Thank you all for the impressive showing in supporting this community event.

In particular, thank you to Keith Longacre and Don Ferguson for staging the historic flags prior to our KSU. A shout also to PGR riders Sarah and Mario for enlisting the North Austin motorcycle meetup group riders.

Get out to the field during the week when it's less busy and check it out.
