Elbert Reed, a WWII veteran of the US Navy, passed away on Tuesday, June 2nd.. His family has invited the Patriot Guard to stand tall at his funeral service. Mr. Reed is the uncle of PGR member Larry Sprague.
The service is set for Saturday, June 6th, 10 am at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX. Interment will immediately follow at Cook Walden Memorial Hills Cemetary just north of Howard Lane on IH35 North.

Timeline: 9:00 am Staging. 9:15 Briefing. Flag line to be assembled at 9:20. Family is scheduled to arrive at 9:30. Service at Cook-Walden to start at 10:00. Service will last 1/2 to 1 hour. We will then accompany the family to the cemetery.

An interesting note, Seaman Elbert Reed served on the Battleship Texas and was the LAST sailor to walk off the ship when it was decommissioned. In fact, the Navy asked him to walk off a second time in order to capture that moment on film.
