    Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral service for CMSgt Ernie Columbus.  CMSgt Columbus began his long military career with the 28th Pennsylvania National Guard, followed by active duty in the U.S. Army during World War II.  After the war he served in the Arkansas National Guard Reserve and then entered the USAF, serving 26 years and earning the highest non-commissioned officer rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

    Date/Time: Saturday, 07 December 2024. Funeral service begins at 1 pm

    Location: Georgetown Church of Christ, 1525 W University Ave, Georgetown, TX 78628. We will stage at the church.  Map link

    12:00 – 12:20 pm – Staging
    12:20 pm – Briefing
    12:30 pm – Flag Line

    Wx: Cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 48F.

    Notes: After the start of the funeral service we will strike the flag line and depart quietly.

    What a privilege & honor it was for the 8 of us to stand for Mr. Columbus. From what many folks were saying to us he was a terrific person & had a great life. Former Austin PGR member Perry, who met the sister in Colorado, came to stand with us. How cool it was to see him again. As the many friends walked by us they were so appreciative of our being there & showing Mr. Columbus such respect. It was truly our reward to do so.
