As many of you who were involved in the early days of the Austin PGR know, Chuck Murphy was one of our original ride captains. On Sunday Jan 31 Chuck died while riding a motorcycle down FM 112 between Taylor and Lexington. There apparently was no other vehicle involved. A driver in a car happened upon Chuck's downed motorcycle off the right shoulder in the ditch along a straight portion of the roadway. There was no evidence of skid marks or debris which would indicate a collision. He was dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be performed to hopefully determine his cause of death. Chuck lived in Hutto with his wife Traci, who says a memorial service will likely take place late April. She said Chuck was proud of his service in the PGR and would be honored and humbled to have his PGR brothers and sisters attend. Please stand by for details, and keep Traci and Chuck's family in your thought and prayers.
Rest in Peace, Chuck Murphy.

May 4, 2016 at 11:58 am #4791markwellsKeymasterStill can't believe Chuck's gone. I have to work in San Antonio until 1230 on Saturday. Planning to cage it up to Hutto- may get there by 1430. Best I can do. Looking forward to seeing all on Saturday.
May 8, 2016 at 3:39 am #4792markwellsKeymasterWe had 12 bikes and a cage today to help honor Chuck's memory. Hutto PD provided us excellent protection from the busy Hwy 79 traffic. Much thanks to Traci's friend Perry for lining that up.
Andy gave a well delivered PGR remembrance of Chuck during the testimonials portion of the event, and Terry created a wonderful PGR keepsake for his wife Traci. Nice going, fellas. There was also a PGR flag which we all signed.
Traci and Chuck's friends and relatives say thank you to the PGR for being part of today's celebration. And we say thank you to Chuck Murphy for his years of service to the PGR.
Rest in peace, my friend.
