    CONFIRMED MISSION
    Vernice Estelle Waldrep (Bekkelund) Baker, US Coast Guard, WWII Veteran – Waco/Clifton

    The family of Vernice Estelle Bekkelund Waldrep Baker, US Coast Guard & WWII Veteran has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in the Funeral and Interment of their Loved One. Funeral Services will be held at 1400 on Monday, 17 Jan 11, at the St Matthew Lutheran Church in Waco, TX, followed by a procession to and Interment at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton, TX.

    Vernice joined the United States Coast Guard during World War II. In the Coast Guard, she was stationed in New York City where she would restock military ships that had come into the port. She also worked as a welder and riveter, making necessary repairs on the ships. Vernice was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. She was a member of the Honor Guard for the Coast Guard and an active member of the VFW. Vernice was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, holding offices on the local, county, and state levels.

    Notes:

    1. Upon arrival at St Matthews we will have a short briefing, then establish a flagline. Once the Funeral Services have begun, we will break down the flagline and either join the family (by invitation) inside for the Funeral Service or prepare to participate in the procession to the cemetery near Clifton, TX, approximately 33 miles NW of Waco. Upon arrival at the cemetery, another flagline will be established for the service there.

    2. Arrive hydrated, bring water/snacks for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
