CONFIRMED MISSION
MSG Irwin "IW" McFarland, US Army, Retired – Killeen, TX
The family of Master Sergeant Irwin "IW" McFarland has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Interment of their Loved One on Thursday, 17 Feb 11 at 1130 at the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas, followed by Interment at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.MSG McFarland retired from government service after more than 49 years of faithful service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and as a CID agent. Among the medals he received were Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (w/1 Silver and 1 Bronze Service Stars), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry (w/Palm), Good conduct Medal (w/Silver 3 loops), Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle and Pistol), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), and Meritorious Service Medal. Then 22 years with Civil Service in the Military Police Investigations Division.

We have been asked to participate in the procession to Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
CEMETERY PORTION
For those able to participate in the cemetery portion of the mission, the following is submitted:Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located on Hwy 195 just south of Killeen, Texas.

Briefing: 1210
Once cleared, we will move to the Memorial Shelter, set up the flags and await the arrival of the procession from Crawford-Bowers.
WX: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Notes: Please arrive hydrated, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
