MAJ Herman Arvin Ellithorp, 74, US Army
Vietnam Veteran, Harker Heights, TXThe family of Major Herman Ellithorp has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One.
After receiving his officers commission from ROTC and spending the required two years on active duty, he decided to make a career of the Army and remained on active duty as a Reserve Officer for 20 years. Assignments included Fort Bliss in El Paso, Germany, Korea, Vietnam and Fort Lee, VA. His early career was in Air Defense Artillery, later transferring to the Quartermaster Corps. Upon retirement from the Army, he became the Chief of the Supply and Services Division, Directorate of Logistics at Fort Hood for the next 15 years as a Department of the Army Civil Servant. He worked for the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Hood for the last three years prior to retirement. Mr. Ellithorp was active in the First Baptist Church of Killeen for 30 years as a deacon and also served on various committees. Other activities included the Texas Partners Federal Credit Union board of directors, Killeen-Heights Rotary Club, and the Single Action Shooter's Society. Note: Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
