    The family of Major Evans Hanson has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One.

    Evans graduated from Lamar High School in 1996, received a BA in International Relations and Economics from the University of Southern California in 2000, an MA in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 2009, and an MA in Strategic Studies from the US Army Command and General Staff College in 2012. He married Jamie Lynn Pursel from Yerington, NV, in 2001, and they lived together wherever the Army sent them before relocating to South Korea in 2012. Evans was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army in Field Artillery in 2000, and earned the rank of Major in 2010. He served two combat tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, earning the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.     INTERMENT

    Staging Time: 1410

    Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located off TX 195 just south of Killeen, TX tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme

    Briefing: 1415 – Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags and await arrival of the procession.

    WX: A slight chance of rain, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 7am. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 45 by 4pm. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

    Note: Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
