    CONFIRMED MISSION
    LTC Hubert Childress, US Army, Retired, Killeen, TX
    The family of Lieutenant Colonel Hubert Childress, Sr, has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Interment of their Loved One on Friday, 18 Feb 11 at 1030 the Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas, followed by Interment at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

    He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army in 1952. LTC Childress retired from the US Army in 1972 after more than 20 years of faithful service. He served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Wars. His medals include the National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Staff Service Medal 1st Class, Vietnam Service Medal with1 Bronze Service Star, Legion of Merit, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and Meritorious Service Medal. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the Bell County Adult Probation Department and retired from there in 1995. He served as the Chairman of the Deacons, Treasurer, and Sunday school teacher of the Pershing Park Baptist Church; was a member of Gideon's Killeen Camp; was a past member of the Kiwanis Club; The Texas Baptist Brotherhood and Hallmark and Fort Hood Bowling Leagues.

    We have been asked to participate in the procession to Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

    CEMETERY PORTION
    For those able to participate in the cemetery portion of the mission, the following is submitted:

    Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located on Hwy 195 just south of Killeen, Texas.

    Staging Time: 1205

    Briefing: 1210

    Once cleared, we will move to the Memorial Shelter, set up the flags and await the arrival of the procession from Crawford-Bowers.

    WX: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South wind around 10 mph.

    Notes: Please arrive hydrated, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.

    Let us join together to honor this Patriot Retiree for his selfless service to our Great Nation.
