    Very Short Notice Mission

    Confirmed mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral service for Mr. Cecil D. "CD" Hill. Mr. Hill served in the US Army, Navy, and Air Force and is a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He left the Air Force in 1966 as a MSgt after a 21 year career and entered law enforcement. He is the founding chief of the Leander Police Department.

    Date/Time: Thursday, 30 August 2018. Funeral service at 11 am.

    Location: Cook Walden Georgetown, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. We will stage at the funeral home.

    Timeline:
    10:00 – 10:20 am – Staging
    10:20 am – Briefing
    10:25 am – Flag line

    Wx: Hi 97 deg, sunny

    Notes: Bring a bottle of water for yourself and one for a friend. This is a flag line only at the funeral home. Be advised that a visitation will take place starting at 10 am prior to the service, so friends and family members will be arriving during our staging period. Burial will take place the same date at 12:30 pm at CTSVC in Killeen.

    Thank you to all who came out on this short notice mission to honor MSgt Hill. We had eight in the flag line in front of the funeral home. Don and Keith L. staked some flags, and we stood under the overhang along the front porch until a few minutes after 11 am. Thank you again, Don, for bringing flags and water.

    The USAF honor guard performed a three volley rifle salute in the parking lot just before the start of the service. We saw but did not hear the bugler. I guess she played inside the building.

    RIP CD Hill. Thank you for your life of service to our nation and community.
