    Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the escorting and arrival of the Texas Vietnam Heroes Monument at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas. This is a Help On The Homefront (HOTH) 2 day mission consisting of escorting the monument to Austin on March 27th, and the unveiling at the State Capitol on March 29th.
    Today’s mission is to ride to Elgin Tx to join up with the procession from Houston, and escort the Monument to the State Capitol.

    Date/Time: Thursday, March 27th, 2014, 10:00am

    Location: Elgin, Texas

    Directions: We will stage at the Citgo Station, corner of U.S. 290 East and 11th St, Elgin, Texas (West bound side)

    Timeline: 
    9:40am – 10:00am Staging 
    10:00am – Safety/ Mission Briefing
    10:30am – 10:45am KSU for the State Capitol (Estated Time based on LEO)

    Wx: Lo – 54 , hi – 75 Partly Cloudy (KVUE Wx)

    Notes:   Please arrive on time and have enough fuel for the mission. Begin hydrating the day before and bring 2 bottles of water with you. Details will be discussed at the mission brief. Once we arrive at the Elgin location, we will join up with the procession and come under the direction of the Houston Ride Captains. Check the Wx before leaving and dress accordingly.
    Make sure your flags and mounts will handle highway speeds.
    ETA in Austin is NLT 11:30am at the Capitol. Those who can not go to Elgin but would like to be at the arrival and setup, can go directly to the Capitol and park on Colorado St between 12th and 13th streets.

    Inportant Note: CHL holders may carry CONCEALED ONLY, no open carry at all. Must have your certificate with you. If you go inside the Capitol Building, present your certificate to the Trooper on duty before going thru the metal detector.

    This is the exhibit the PGR is escorting to the Capitol. It travels disassembled in boxes. It will need to be set up in the lower rotunda. The lower rotunda is one floor below the south entrance ground floor.
