Wow. What a great turn out. We had riders join us from as far away as San Antonio. We had a rider join us in Johnson City & 2 more in Frederiksberg. In addition, some friends of Capt. Shafer met us at the Austin staging. All total we had 21 bikes & 2 cages.
The flag line proved to be a challenge with the heat & high humidity. I managed to get most into the shade but even then, it was still pretty grueling. U patriots never cease to amaze me. U are truly super people & I humbly thank U for all U do. It was my honor to serve with U today.
A big thanks too to Bobby for being the Flag Wrangler & bringing cold water. That was a God sent.
Members of the family stopped me after the service & wanted me to pass along to U all how deeply appreciative they all were for the show of respect that U all rendered by giving up your Sat to be there. U DO make a difference & it shows. As a Vietnam vet, your showing of respect to the fallen veteran is especially meaningful to me. Thanks so so much again.
