March 30, 2014 at 8:30 pm #4439markwellsKeymasterWhat a beautiful day it was on Saturday for unveiling the statue and welcoming home all of our Vietnam heroes. I only heard one report of the attendance numbers and it was 5500 folks.
The staging on Colorado and the movement to the stands went smoothly. We would like to thank Asst. State Captain Bobby Stroka, SE Texas Lead Ride Captain Chuck Collum, K.P. and all the other out-of-town RC's and volunteers (whose names I can't remember)for the help with parking over 200 bikes in that small area, and for working the ceremony, flags, water, etc.
Thanks to our Austin RC's Terry, Steve, Keith and Andy for working the parking and then moving over to the seating area to assist during the ceremony. Bob Binkley and daughter Michelle were responsible for the Austin flags (and service/branch flags) and water, and did a great job. Michelle was a Lt. in the Marines and took care of the only trouble maker that showed up, by marching them right out of our area!
Thanks to all the riders who cooperated with us thereby making it easier. We hope you had a safe ride home.Robert Stancil
