Confirmed Mission: The family of Atlas Cornelius Hollifield has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his funeral and interment services. Mr. Hollifield served in the USAF from 1951 – 1955, attaining the rank of Airman Second Class.
9:00 – 9:20 pm – Staging
9:20 am – Briefing
9:30 am – Flag line
Wx: Partly cloudy. Near record high temperatures. High 106F.
Notes: Bring drinking water for yourself and a friend. Stay hydrated! After the start of the funeral service we will strike the flag line and stand by to join the LEO escorted procession to the adjacent Cook Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery (IH35 & Howard Lane) where we will stand a second flag line for the interment service.
As Patriot Guard Riders stood a flag line, family & friends took the time to talk with & thank each of us for showing such honor for Mr. Hollifield. All of us felt it a privilege & honor to stand tall for this patriot. Although it was very warm, all 6 of us were in the shade at the FH & there was a nice breeze. At the interment, shade was non existent but the service was short & again a nice breeze.
FYI, We could use an extra Flag Wrangler for the North side of the Austin Region. If any of U know someone that might like to do this, that would be great. JOB: bring flags to the mission, retrieve same at the end.
