Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral and interment services for Mr. Joel R. Lander. Mr. Lander served in the US Army from January 1943 to January 1946 and was a combat infantryman with the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He participated in the Normandy invasion, The Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. He was a PFC upon discharge.
His daughter reports he is the last surviving member of his unit.
