Extremely Short Notice, Confirmed Mission:

Rory Caine Brown, 32, passed away on August 19th 2009. His wife has requested the PGR to stand tall at his memorial service, on Sunday August 23rd at 5:00pm. Rory served with the 3rd BTN 5th Marines. He leaves a wife and three sons, ages 4 1/2 , 9 and 13 yrs old and other family members.

From IH 35 in Georgetown, go west on RR 2338 (Williams, or Andice Rd) for 13 miles. Turn right on CR 250 and go .2 tenths of a mile to the church (Mapquest Referenced)

Time: 3:50pm to 4:15pm
Brief: 4:15pm
Wx: Sunny and Hot with high of 103, heat index possibly up to 106.

This is a memorial service only with no procession or riding involved. We will establish a flag line at 4:25pm til the service begins at 5:00pm, then a short flag line at the end of the service.

Notes: Please hydrate during the day and bring 2 bottles of water. Sunscreen is advised. The availability of shade is unknown at this time due to the short notice.
I know it is late on a sunday afternoon, but please try to attend and stand tall for this Marine veteran.

Just a little info about Jeff. He worked at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in Avila Beach, CA. He was a Procurement Specialist and worked for me for many years. Jeff was tough (from his submarine days), fair and respected by all. Thanks to all that cared for him in the Lone Star State. I have excellent memories of Jeff and will remember him in my prayers.

Short Notice Confirmed Mission – Wednesday, 19 August

The family of Mr. Morris Cohn has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in his funeral and interment services. Mr. Cohn fought in Korea where he served as a tank commander, and all four of his sons have served in the military with one still on active duty.

Date: Wednesday, 19 August 2009

Location/Time: Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home, 1041 W. US Hwy 79, Rockdale, TX. Services begin at 1400 hrs (2:00 pm)

Austin Staging: We will stage at Covert Ford-Chevrolet of Hutto, located 1.7 miles east of downtown Hutto on the north side of Hwy 79. We will stage at the far east end of the car lot. Location Map: tinyurl.com/6fdb4q

1215-1230 staging
1235 briefing
1240 KSU (kick stands up)

Wx: Forecast is for partly cloudy skies, Lo of 76, High of 97F. Please bring drinking water and sun block.

Notes: Arrive at the staging fed, fueled, and hydrated. The ride to the funeral home is approx. 40 minutes. We will form a flag line at the church at 1325 hrs. At the conclusion of the service the PGR will join the procession to the cemetery in Rockdale for burial.

Mike Foster passed away at the age of 65 in his home in North Carolina. Mike was a LCDR, USNR (Ret) of 30 years in the cryptology/intel field. He rose from the enlisted ranks to officer ranks during his career.

The graveside funeral will be on Saturday, 8 August at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road #4 South, Burnet, Texas at 2:00pm.

I will be attending this mission and welcome anyone who can ride up with me. Staging info will be posted here after I receive the Centex staging.

This is a memorial service at the cemetery only.
Texas Coyote has posted the times as follows:

The Service will begin at 2:00pm on Saturday Aug. 8th in the Veterans Section of the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Located at 4219 Park Road 4 south.

Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 281\29 in Burnet, go South on US 281 approx 4.9 miles to the intersection with Park Road 4 on your Right.
From the intersection of Hwy 281\1431 in Marble Falls, go North on US 281 approx 7.9 miles to the intersection with Park Road 4 on your Left.
From the intersection of 281\PR 4, go West on Park Road 4 approx 3.8 miles to the Cemetery entrance on your Left. GPS Coordinates of the entrance are:
N 30deg 40' 45.8" & W 98deg 19' 03.9"

Once you have entered the Cemetery you will see a Large metal Cross on the South side. The Veterans Section is just beyond that Cross.

Staging will be at the Cemetery from 12:45 to 13:15 with short briefing. The Family is due at 13:30 with the Cremains.
Weather: Right now it is calling for Sunny, 96deg with a 10% chance of rain. the UV index is 11, which is extreme. Sunscreen and plenty of water is recommended.

Thanks to everyone who attended Larry Goodwill's service yesterday and braved the heat to do so. Since there were no military honors provided, it was fitting that we had "21" flags flying before the service, and rendered "salutes" when his casket departed the church. Your response to the short notice and flexibility during the extended church service was outstanding. At the cemetery, the family expressed their sincere appreciation for your attendence.
Thanks to J.C. for taking the flags and water, Greg for helping with the flag line and water, and Bud for being our tail gunner.
You all made me very proud to be a Patriot Guard Rider!
