SHORT NOTICE – CONFIRMED MISSION
1SG Walter R. McRae, US Army, Retired, Desert Storm Veteran, Belton, TX

The family of First Sergeant Walter R. McRae has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One on Thursday, 16 Jun 11 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen at 1030.

Walt served in the US Army as a First Sergeant until 1993, when he retired after 23 years. Walt was a decorated noncommissioned officer whose awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, six Good Conduct Medals, NCO Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Badge Rifle, Expert Badge Pistol, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, as well as Bronze Star for extraordinary heroism in ground combat. Walter is a veteran of Desert Storm.

Flagline Establishment: 0950 +/- After the Funeral Service has begun, we will break down the flagline and prepare to participate in the procession bringing First Sergeant McRae to his final resting place at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

For those members who are able to participate only in the cemetery portion, the following information is submitted:

Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Memorial Shelter and the Walk of Heroes at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located off TX 195, 5 miles south of Killeen, TX.

Staging Time: 1105

Briefing: 1110 As soon as we are cleared, we will move to the Memorial Shelter, set up the flags and await the arrival of the procession bringing First Sergeant McRae to his final resting place.
