July 4, 2012 at 2:53 pm #3759markwellsKeymasterMore important than any other plans I had. See you about 2:00.
July 4, 2012 at 11:30 pm #3760markwellsKeymasterAnother successful Mission completed. I want to thank each of the 50 bikes and 4 cages- many with passengers along- for making it to ABIA this afternoon for LTC Tisdale's final trip home.
I returned home at 1800 hrs, pretty much 24 hrs from the moment Sam sent the alert out to us all. 20 hours after Sam sent that alert, we gathered at the airport and did what did today. On a holiday. In 100 degree temps. Simply amazing, folks.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to thank each of you personally. An I know that LTC Tisdale's brother, who was in uniform and in attendance, would have liked to do the same, much more than I did. He did ask me to pass along his deepest gratitude to you all.
I hope all made it home safely and enjoys the rest of our Independence Day.
Respects,
Andy

Thank you for helping us bring our hero, Lt. Col. Roy Lin Tisdale home on July 4. The plans set in motion earlier in the week fell apart at noon on July 3. That’s when the Army announced he was coming in through Austin-Bergstrom and not Easterwood Airport in College Station. Crud! With some quick work and cooperation, Robert, Sam, and Andyman assisted Bobby and me in crafting a new mission.
Andyman handed the mission off to me in Dime Box, and the transition was very smooth and well organized. We arrived in College Station with 65 bikes and 5 cages. One very fortunate piece of luck: LTC Tisdale’s wife and children arrived at Easterwood in time for them and LTC Tisdale’s mother to join up with us for the final leg of the journey. They were impressed by the number of riders, and even more so with the number of folks who lined the streets along the A&M campus route and through College Station.
Thank you to all who helped us bring our hero home. You made the mission that much better, and I look forward to working with all of you in the future.
Semper Gumby!
