    The family of Navy veteran Raymond Koopmann, 83, has requested the participation of the PGR at his funeral & burial services this Sunday in West Point, TX. Mr. Koopmann passed away on Feb.11 after an illness. His obituary can be found at tinyurl.com/raymondkoopmann

    Date/Time: Sunday, 14 February 2010. Services scheduled to start at 2:00 pm, with interment immediately afterward next to the church.

    Location: St. Peters Lutheran Church, 640 Prairie Valley Rd, West Point, TX 78963. The church is located north off Hwy 71 about halfway between Smithville & La Grange. Map link: tinyurl.com/stpeters-westpoint

    Timeline:
    1120-1150 hrs Austin staging (11:20 – 11:50 am)
    1150 hrs safety briefing
    1200 KSU for the church, approx. 46 miles
    1315 hrs briefing
    1320 flag line in place.

    Wx: Partly cloudy, Lo 43, high 56. Please bring your own drinking water.

    Notes:
    Please arrive fed, fueled, and hydrated. Fuel is available at the Austin staging location. At the conclusion of the funeral service we will establish a flag line for the interment service adjacent to the church. There will be no procession between the funeral and burial location.

    Mr. Koopmann's wife Charleen says goodbye this Sunday to her valentine of 59 years. Please join her and stand tall and silent in honor of his service to our country so many years ago.

    My prayers go out to the family.
    I plan to leave 1 mile west of Jonah (my house) at 11:00. If anyone would like to hook up along the way feel free to do so. My route will take me on 29 through Jonah, then hit 95, through Taylor, Elgin then hit 71 at the intersection of 71 and 95 in Bastrop. I should arrive at the Shell in Smithville on the loop at 12:15ish, I will wait there until the Austin Staging comes by and join up with them.

    After mission report: Excelent turn out for Navy veteran Ray Koopmann's funeral Sunday. There were 26 – 2 wheel mc's, 2 trikes, & 3 cages. Patriots turned out from as far away as Lanno & Killeen. The church was filled to overflowing. Multiple comments were spoken to us about our presents. Especially about seeing all the flags as they came down the road. Thanks Mark & TC for he suggestion. Here is sample of appreciation.

    It was amazing that 30+ of you would give up a beautiful Valentine's Day afternoon to drive for an hour out to the middle of nowhere on such short notice. It was quite an impressive display and I'm sure Ray's family appreciated it a great deal.

    I've also seen you at ceremonies at the Fallen Warrior Memorial here in Pflugerville. You people are wonderful!

    I am so sorry that I was unable to make this Mission as it is in my area. My e-mail updates have not been going through, so I was completely unaware. Thanks again from the La Grange PGR RC. and I think I should have my e-mail updates back on track….thanks again and Ride Safe!

    I just wanted to pass this along for all to know. Yesterday (Tuesday) I saw Mr. Bob Wessels in Austin. He is a relative of Mr. Koopmann's and was a pall bearer at the Funeral Sunday. He told that after the service he went to the Reception at the Hall across the road from the Church, as did most of the Family and Friends in attendance. He said that many of the people there had seen him talking with Keith and other PGR members during the service, so at the reception they came to him and asked "who were all those people holding the flags?" He told them who we were and what we do. They all told him how good it looked as they drove up, seeing all the flags along the road etc. Some even asked him what it took to have us attend a service if needed. So, As Keith said as we departed, Thanks to everyone who was there (in Body and\or Spirit)… "We DO Make a Difference."
