Mission Complete. 5 PGR members stood the flag line on this foggy, damp day to honor this hero, a dedicated Army Paratrooper and subsequent Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper. Nicki arrived early and placed flags at key locations throughout the grounds. Soup met with the funeral director, who was exceptionally helpful and introduced him to Mrs Bayless who expressed her profound appreciation for our participation. Thank you to our own Burt Carter, a high school classmate and good friend of Mr. Bayless, for sharing some memories of growing up with Scott. It was a short walk from the entrance where the flag line was posted for the funeral to the site of the burial service at the entrance to the cemetery. Mr. Bayless’ son walked the flag line after the burial ceremony to thank each one for being there. The Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church was located atop a hill from where you could see for miles if not for the fog. It was a great privilege to honor Sgt. Bayless at this beautiful and historic site in Hostyn,Texas. RIP Sgt Bayless.
