The family of Sergeant Major William Dawson has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One.
Sergeant Major Dawson joined the Army and retired after 26 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He later went on to serve in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Among his awards were the Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), National Defense Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm.
