tinyurl.com/rck4z6The Patriot Guard Riders have, once again, been invited to participate in the 5th annual POW / MIA ceremony Saturday the 29th of September. The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to enter the Texas State Cemetery from the north entrance precisely at 11:00 am; with our bike flags flying.
In addition; Lyn has made a wreath for us to present at the monument.
Austin area riders will stage at the old Safeway parking lot east of the frontage road of IH-35 between 11th and 12th street. We will depart heading east on 11th and ride in formation into the north entrance of the State Cemetery. We will pull in as far as we can and park on the side walk and dismount. Form our flag line around behind everyone. There is usually water available, but we should arrive fed and hydrated.
Weather calls for temperatures to be in the low 90’s.

Ride Captain: Steve von Roeder
Flag Wrangler: Lyn von RoederSeptember 21, 2012 at 9:32 pm #3835markwellsKeymasterI would really like to attend this but my #4 grandson is turning 4 that day. He worships me and he wouldn't understand my absence. As you know, we are all trying to make this a better world for our g-kids (hidden message here — VOTE in November).
Please honor my fallen comrads. Hopefully, I'll be with you on the next event.

the WX folks are now predicting 100% chance of rain on Saturday morning.
the POW / MIA event will go on rain or shine.. that being said the organizier of the ceremony is not expecting us to ride, in the event of heavy rain.
The staff at the Texas State Cemetery will provide the use of the Gallery and the VIP building to conduct the Ceremony.
If the PGR wants to participate even if we have rain, then you can bring your flags into the Gallery and position yourself along the walls and the entrance and provide the Honor Guard.
I have the flags and will be at the staging location on Saturday morning. Please use discretion in attempting to ride in the expected weather.Home is 837-3843
Cell is 230-2080
Thanks,
Steve

cannonballOctober 1, 2012 at 12:50 pm #3847markwellsKeymasterThanks to who came to honor the POW/MIA's on Saturday. Although we were inside, the flag line looked good and was much appreciated by the Vietnam Veterans of America folks. Special thanks to Shiloh and the Combat Veterans M/C
