This mission is confirmed. There will be no family present, and his Elgin area friends have requested the Patriot Guard help provide a proper farewell, with respect and gratitude for Mr. Nubbe's service to our country.
Our contact in Elgin who is arranging the memorial service is Bradley Jones. Mr. Jones is the friend of Mr. Nubbe who went to check on him at his home and discovered he had passed away. Mr. Jones also happens to be our own Frank James' son-in-law and the proprietor of Jones Funeral Home.
Frank obtained the following info from Mr. Jones regarding this veteran's service:
Petty Officer 2nd Class, (E-5), serving 4 yrs on the USS John Adams as a Sonar operator. Mr. Nubbe received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and left the service in March 1973.
Date:Friday, 24 July
Location: Jones Family Funeral Home, 209 North Avenue C, Elgin, TX Staging is at the funeral home.
Directions: Approaching Elgin from Austin on eastbound Hwy 290, turn north (left) on Hwy 95/business 290. Turn east (right) on N. Avenue C. Proceed 1.5 miles to the funeral home at the W. 1st street intersection. Map link: tinyurl.com/kmmapm

1300 – 1315 hrs staging (1:00 pm – 1:15 pm)
1315 hrs briefing
Flag line in place until the start of the service at 1400 hrs (2:00 pm)
Wx: Mostly sunny, high of 100 degrees. Bring drinking water. Sunscreen advised.
Notes: We will establish a flag line at the funeral home until the start of the service at which time all PGR are invited inside. There is no procession before or after the service.
